The basics of a successful start: how can a student create a business in Russia

On March 19, the sixth lesson of the educational module of the School of International Entrepreneurship for students of Moscow universities "Start your business with Moscow" took place.

The topic of the lesson was quite extensive - "Financial, legal and accounting business support". The speakers were representatives of Sapozhnikov & Partners consulting firm - Alexey Kokorin, Head of Corporate Law and M&A Practice, Partner of the company, and Anastasia Kondratenko, Senior Associate of Labor and Migration Law and Restructuring Practice.

The first expert highlighted the legal aspects of setting up and running a business in the Russian Federation, told students how to create a business, informed them about its main legal forms (self-employed, sole proprietor, JSC, LLC), and outlined their features, advantages, and limitations. "I tried to present a general picture of how we are doing with the creation of a business: what are the pros and cons, what opportunities open up in the future, as well as what questions the guys may have in the future when they work in large companies or develop their own business," said Alexey Kokorin.

Anastasia Kondratenko focused on the issues of legal regulation of doing business in the Russian Federation regarding the registration of employment relations, including with foreign citizens, including migration requirements. "We have considered the risks that a young entrepreneur may face in the field of labor and migration law, as well as when working with personal data. In addition, we discussed several interesting court cases in which, it would seem, the employee had no chance of winning, but the court ruled in his favor."

The students actively joined in the discussion of the proposed topics, asked many questions, and expressed their versions of the development of events.

The project School of International Entrepreneurship for students of Moscow Universities "Start your Business with Moscow" is being implemented by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of the Moscow Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy as part of a grant from the Mayor of Moscow.

The next class will be held on Monday, March 24th.
